As this deck is the blacksmith edition, I decided to go with a dark, moody environment with steam, whiskey and charcoal.
The lighting is very moody and dark and the editing supports that feeling through rich blacks and high contrast. I intentionally placed very few color spots in the images with lemon and rosemary, to accent and complement the colors of the deck.
Chris Ramsays love to chess is hard to deny in this beautiful deck of cards.
In order to pay highlight this great deck, I decided to include chess elements into the images. A glass of scotch and a good game of chess was the intention I took when I started styling these photos.
Of course the great highlight of this deck is the gold ink on the cards as well as the gold foil that was stamped onto the deck. Highlighting something that is that reflective and shiny is a hard task for photography because the reflections are very hard to control.
In order to draw even more attention to this very important detail of the deck, I decided to include more golden and reflective Elements into the images.
